Script for digital photo story.

So, I 've come up with the narration for my photo story. I'm not quite sure about it yet and I'm a bit hesitant as to whether it would fit with my photos. The writing is quite rushed as well, so I don't know if it would make sense. But, whatever.

Screen fades in from black. A series of images of people appear consecutively while soft, gentle music plays in the background.

NARRATOR
We live in an environment where we are constantly surrounded by a diverse community. Most of these people hold no particular significance to us. Merely passing faces whom we encounter on a daily basis. But do you ever just take a moment to look closely at a total stranger, not just glance but actually see past their appearance. Trying to understand who they are, all judgement and prejudices aside. They may seem to look ordinary to you, but did it ever occur to you that they may live an entirely complex life, which you are unaware of?
I often wonder what their story is. Who are they, really? Where did they come from? What has led them to this place, in this very moment in time? I wonder, in spite of their appearance, are they genuinely happy? I wonder whether they have lived a fulfilled life. Perhaps they have lived a completely different lifestyle from you. Whether they have had scars from their past and learnt from experience. Who are the people whom mean the most to them/they hold close to them? Do they have people whom they consider more important than others? I wonder about their passions, dreams, fears, anxieties. What is it that makes them unique as an individual?
Some may have experienced success and triumph more than others. Perhaps some have been brought up in a wealthy background, while others may have been less fortunate. By merely studying their face, I wonder what struggles they have faced, the sacrifices they have made in the past and what their hopes are for the future. Whether their existence on this earth been worthwhile? I wonder about their personal traits and the type of person whom they aspire to be. At this stage in their life, are they satisfied? Do they feel a sense of purpose and belonging? Or perhaps do they feel as if they have yet to prove something, or make their mark in this world? Have you ever wondered, just out of curiosity, if they may be thinking of you in the same way? So, the next time you see a stranger, think twice before making immediate judgements about them. Perhaps they may be a lot like you after all, you never know.

Progress update.

I went to the city with Fatima on the weekend and took some photos for our photo story. I have yet to gather and edit which ones I want to use for the final version.

Ideas for my digital photo story.

I haven't really settled on a final concept for my digital photo story. I only have a vague idea of what I want to do, really. I'm thinking of taking and gathering candid shots of random people, complete strangers, on the street or wherever. I was inspired by street-style photography such as The Sartorialist and other blogs. For my narration, I want to talk about how we perceive and judge complete strangers and also wonder about who they are, what their story is and what brought them where they are at present. Basically, I'm aiming to discuss how unique each individual and their life story is, in a non-clichéd way, I hope. So, that's it. I'm not make sure if that makes sense.

Photos in more detail.

In the last post I made, the photos weren't very visible. I am posting them here in a larger size. They look a bit grainy/blurry, though, after I resized them. So bear with me.

Final photo story.

So, here is my photo story, composed of 12 photos in total (including the front and back).

NOTE: The photo of the bird is actually a montage as I altered the original background:

Photo story ideas.

I am thinking of compiling, for my photo story, photographs that evoke a similar theme, all of which tell a story. I want to use the idea of capturing movement and motion in a single shot. In my photographs, I want to capture movement in everyday life, such as people dancing, cars rushing, birds flying, etc. They would depict how each action and every little movement we make forms part of what we know to be real life. Every movement is something which most of us are familiar with, yet forget to notice and acknowledge its presence and the beauty of the simple things in life.

DVD cover draft.

Okay, so I've been playing around with Adobe Photoshop to create a rough idea of what I want my final cover (for my music video) to look like. Basically, I have a few versions of the cover I want but I can't really decide which one to use. I have yet to include more text if needed, although I'm still unsure of what text to put on a music video DVD. Here are the two best ones I made:

DVD cover ideas.

For the DVD cover of my music video, I'm thinking of using a simple layout with only a few colours. I'm  not sure what I'm going to use for the background, but I'm intending to put a photo to stretch across the front and back cover. I also want to include two cropped-out images of Angus and Julia Stone on the front cover, sort of blended into the background.  I still have to think of the text to put on it. So far, that's all I have.

Live action film ideas.

I am thinking of doing a music video, using a song by Angus and Julia Stone, called 'Chocolates & Cigarettes'.

My idea is to make some sort of story based on different sequences of footage. As the music starts, the footage will show a person, face not shown, in front of a blank canvas, in another scene the same person is in front of a blank notebook, and in another,  a dark, cloudy sky. And then a row of piano keys are shown, then sheet music, then tapping fingers, fingers twirling a pen, etc. A hand is shown tearing out a blank page, then a hand grabbing a pencil, then a paintbrush being raised. A pair of trembling fingers hovering above piano keys is shown, the paintbrush tip very close to the canvas, then the pencil touching the paper.
The person starts to slowly draw a face, of a girl. Gripping the pencil tighter, the hand draws dark tears underneath the eyes as drops of real tears fall onto the page.  A can of pens and pencils is knocked over in the process.  A dark sky appears, etc. The same person starts to paint on the canvas.  After a moment, they dip the brush in black paint and paint all over the painting. In between random sequences, the person is alternating between scribbling over the drawing, overlapping black paint on the canvas and shuffling through sheet music towards the song’s climax. Each of the scenes freeze at one point, then rewind back to the beginning, when the paper is blank, the canvas is empty and the sheet music is still in place, etc.
The screen fades to black, then reappears with a sunny sky, then a pair of feet stepping out a door, then paper being folded into a paper boat.  The person starts to paint on the canvas, etc. except this time, with more passion/enthusiasm and a more positive attitude. The rest of the sequences become that of a more positive note as the song finishes, ending with the paper boat, sailing in a river, with a horizon in the background.

Storyboard (page 1).

I sort of rushed this, so the drawings aren't very visible enough, I think. So bear with me.
